Southern District Women’s Camp Report

by Lauris Beasley June 2015

The Girls Weekend away was held on June 5-7th at the Belgrave heights Lodge. It is one of the most historic homesteads in the Dandenong Ranges. Twenty-six women and teenagers attended. The theme for this camp was “Come away with Me”. The speaker was Lyn Wake. Lyn and her husband David have been working with Wycliffe Bible Translators since 1998.

In 2013, Lyn published a devotional book that was inspired by the life of her daughter, Bethany. She passed away in 2010 by cancer at the age of fifteen. Lyn shared with us more about the great impact of her life and journey after Bethany’s death.

On Friday night we started with three ice breaker games that helped to get to know each other. Later discussion was done in small groups. Lyn spoke about her daughter Bethany. She spoke of God’s revelation that she would lose her, unaware what it really meant. In God we have no control over our lives. Trials will be hard but beneficial in God’s scheme. God takes us out of our comfort zone. Our circumstances change we must follow God no matter what occurs. We cannot survive trials and traumas without God’s power and support. Healing comes out of dark times.

On Saturday morning we learnt how God’s courts us. We are God’s “beloved”. The intention of courtship is to know other better. Jesus is watching us, we are to fix our eyes on HIM. God woes us, we have captured His heart. Jesus died for us, he calls to us to come to the cross to receive His love.

We are God’s “chosen”. We are seen by God from eternity as unique and important. We exist in God’s heart. His eyes see us as of eternal value. When betrothed by God’s precious blood His promises will become true. The Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee of His promise. God cannot go back as His word. Once God covers us with the eternal covenant it cannot be broken. He bestows on His beloved abundant spiritual blessings and gifts. We are God’s “beautiful”. We are awaiting our Bridegroom’s second coming. As brides guard our hearts, eyes and ears lest we fall into world’s traps. New covenant sealed in blood of Jesus, He covered both sides. All initiation is on God. He has showered His bride with salvation, help, victory over sin, freedom, fruit of the Spirit.

Marriage on earth and marriage to the bridegroom should be the mirror of our Godly lives. Over the years of marriage to Graeme I have been drawing closer and more intimately attuned how we both think and feel. Just to be with him is so precious. Like wise God desires us to draw nearer and closer to Himself and be one in mind and spirit. I am His and He is mine eternally.

Submit respectfully,
Lauris Beasley.
