NSW District Conference report 2015
The NSW Annual District Conference of the Wesleyan Methodist Church took place at Merroo Christian Centre on 25 September 2015.
Our District Superintendent Rev. Dr. Lex Akers opened in prayer and as the roll call was read, it was noted with much excitement how the Lord had blessed NSW because we were sitting in a packed conference room. There was an expectant atmosphere among the delegates as the enthusiasm from the District Superintendent was tangible. Lex noted that we are walking in faith, knowing that God will provide and sustain us and do great things in New South Wales in the coming years.
Many new-comers were welcomed to the conference; Pst. Jonathan Cole, who has been at Hope Wesleyan for the past 10 months; Mr David Porter who is actively involved in the music at Hope Wesleyan; our DS’s wife, Mrs Phyllisa Akers, who has been a constant support and encouragement for Lex; Rev. Jackson Gill, who was previously involved in chaplaincy work but now Pastors at the Lismore Church; and as well as Rev. Ralph Lewis & Pst. Andy Lewis, who were invited by Lex to join the conference.
Rev. Graham Wright was approved as the Conference Parliamentarian, Mrs Kirstin Jackson as the Conference Reporter, the Welcome Committee was Rev. Neville Cave and Rev. Heather Wright with the minute’s review committee being Rev. Richard Jackson and Mrs Tess Sagar.
All the Pastor reports were accepted with thanks and appreciation for the hard work done over the past year. Mrs Rose Richardson presented the financial report, and it was accepted with appreciation and gratitude.
A special celebration tea was held to mark 30 years as a District for NSW. It was a good time of sharing as some folk recounted events and special memories that have paved the path we have travelled for the past 3 decades. Many saints who have contributed to making NSW the District it is today and have since been promoted to Glory were also remembered.
During the time at Merroo we joined in a wonderful celebration with three of our fellow Christians who were either being ordained or had their credentials transferred to be recognised by the Wesleyan Methodist Church. We celebrate with Rev. Poasi Mosala, Rev. Peter Cole and Rev. Manny Pillay – may God bless you all as you serve Him.
Please be in much prayer for the Pastors of NSW and for Lex & Phyllisia as they make their big move from Qld, pray for God’s blessing and leading as NSW starts the new year.
Mrs Kirstin Jackson
